It’s 'green for go' today as we launch Lancashire's Green Awards for 2012, and we very much want you to be part of it.
Environmental issues have never been more pressing. All responsible individuals, community groups, businesses and industry are striving to do their bit to safeguard the environment. This awards scheme is to recognise outstanding achievements in tackling climate change.
We hope the awards will help raise awareness of the need for better environment performance by business, industry and community and we will honour the winning individuals who have made significant contributions to changing the way we live.
Relative to the UK, Lancashire has lower proportions of CO2 emissions and better air quality. The county is also recycling more than the UK average with one in four households recycling their waste.
The Lancashire Green Awards finalists will be announced in the Lancashire Evening Post on Wednesday 31 October 2012.
This is the fourth year the Lancashire Evening Post has run the Lancashire Green Awards and I am proud to be associated with this project.
Protecting our environment continues to be of crucial importance to all of us. These annual awards ensure that the people who help make Lancashire a better place are rewarded for their efforts.
